If you're proposing I reinsert the HDD and the try using an OS USB that won't do anything either since I literally cannot do anything with the computer if it won't boot. I have a USB mount for the hard drive, that didn't work either. It's been a while since what happened to it was explained to me, but her hard drive was done. Like 2300peterw just said, use a USB stick to run the OS from it the HDD might work on other machines but it doesn't hurt to try the USB method (after all, troubleshooting is all about elimination) Live usb starts and work normally, but it is not possible to install OS, because Linux doesnt detect hard drive. I also switched sata mode to ahci and updated BIOS to 1.05 version. I disabled secure boot and fast boot from BIOS. could you give more details of the "frying" coz I cannot for the life of me see how a HDD can fry by itself.ĭo you mean it died, stopped spinning, or just doesn't respond? Because by frying am thinking shorting out electrically, and it is really weird to short out a HDD in itself and bypass the PC MOBO altogether, unless its controller board just died (which in this case I think is what happened) I try to install Linux Mint 19.3 xfce-edition on my laptop Aspire 3 a315-56 (this laptop cames without installed OS). Acer Aspire S7 for someone whose hard drive got fried".
